Mobile World Congress 2025
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) and the Four Years From Now (4YFN) 2025 in Barcelona are two of the most important events in technological innovation. Companies, startups and developers have presented the advances that are transforming the way we communicate, work and protect ourselves in the digital world.
TU could not miss this appointment. Our participation has allowed us to connect with the ecosystem, share knowledge and demonstrate how we are working to create the technological future.
During these days, we have presented use cases, interactive demos and talks with our experts to show how the technology continues to evolve. It has been an edition full of inspiration, collaboration with different partners and great moments that reinforce our commitment to innovation. Here is a summary of our participation in the Telefónica Agora at MWC and in 4YFN 2025, the benchmark event for the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

MWC 2025: innovation, technology and highlights

Telefónica Innovación Digital experts have presented the latest advances in TU products in various presentations, sharing their vision of the most disruptive technological trends. Through these interventions, we have provided key insights into how innovation and collaboration are driving transformation in key sectors, highlighting the impact of solutions such as quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI).

Session “Open collaboration to innovate”

Chema Alonso was the first to present our products in his session “Open collaboration to innovate” on 3 March. He was accompanied by great colleagues from the sector: Carlos Herrera Yague of Cabify; Miguel López-Valverde Argüeso of the Community of Madrid; Paco Salcedo of Microsoft; Christiaan Brand of Google; and Ishwar Parulkar of Amazon Web Services.
The session highlighted that transformative innovation arises from co-creation, entrepreneurship and collaboration. In order to lead change, it is essential to share knowledge, and we do that through Telefónica Open Gateway using APIs as key tools for facilitating collaboration and the apification of digital services.
Through strategic partnerships, we are designing a more accessible and efficient future, where technology, quantum computing and AI drive solutions that connect and empower both people and businesses, redefining the communications of the future.
He also gave a brief introduction to some of the products in the family of TU: Latch, Wallet,  VerifAI and Quantum Encryption, which were later developed by different experts at Telefónica Innovación Digital.

Session “Showcase: Quantum-Safe Technologies at Telefónica”

Antonio Guzmán, director of the Discovery area of Telefónica Innovación Digital, was accompanied by Manu Marín, from Halotech; Ángel Ayuso, from the Vithas Foundation; Kallitsa Savvidou, from Telefónica Tech; Juan Cambeiro and Jesús Abraham, from Telefónica España; and Xiaoyuan Yang, from Telefónica Innovación Digital.
During the talk “Showcase:  Quantum-Safe Technologies” on 4 March, Antonio explained how Telefónica is evolving to make our networks and technologies Quantum-Safe, with Quantun Encryption. With this solution, we seek to protect businesses from the challenges that quantum computing will bring, ensuring a more secure future in an increasingly complex digital environment.

Session “Cybercriminals with credentials”

Yaiza Rubio, Chief Metavers Officer, and Javier Espinosa, Head of Software at Telefónica Innovación Digital, were joined by Javier Mira, from Facephi, in the session “Cybercriminals with credentials” on 4 March.
During the talk, they highlighted the importance of secure identity management to protect businesses from credential theft, showing how cybercriminals can exploit vulnerabilities such as session cookies, OAuth tokens or phishing techniques.
In addition, they performed a live demo on how Latch, our authorisation control platform tailored for Web3 and Quantum-Safe developers, can strengthen app security and protect companies against unauthorised access.

Session “Security in the age of AI”

Susana Jurado, Head of Venture Building, Telefónica Innovación Digital, was joined by Mariano González-Cayuela, from Hiya, Sergio de los Santos, from Telefónica Tech, and Francisco Ramírez from Telefónica Innovación Digital in the session Security in the age of AI” on 5 March.
The talk addressed the increased risks associated with AI. As this technology becomes more sophisticated, it can be used for criminal purposes such as fraud, phishing and disinformation. The increasing difficulty of distinguishing between AI-generated and human-created content was highlighted.
Susana emphasised how Telefónica improves customer confidence through comprehensive solutions and managed cybersecurity services, supported by teams of experts. In addition, the crucial role of VerifAI in the detection of deepfakes, contributing to the protection against phishing threats.

4Y4N: a must-attend event for entrepreneurs

4Y4N is one of the benchmark events for the international entrepreneurial ecosystem, bringing together technology startups, investors, corporations and public institutions to generate synergies and joint business agreements. And there we were.
Chema Alonso also had a place on this stage. In his session “Level 101: Things yet “TU” be created” he highlighted how the telecoms sector has evolved from offering voice services to becoming providers of internet and digital solutions such as WiFi, smart homes and security. As telcos position themselves as channels for OTT services, innovation continues to move into emerging areas such as web3, drones, autonomous vehicles, GenAI and cybersecurity.
MWC and 4Y4N 2025 were the perfect stage to show how TU, with our innovative and collaborative approach, continues to lead the digital and quantum transformation. From showcasing our Latch, Wallet, VerifAI and Quantum Encryption solutions to demonstrating how technology can ensure a safer, more sustainable and accessible future, each session was another step towards creating a safer and more secure digital world. It was an experience that has confirmed our commitment to continue opening new technological frontiers, always together with the best in the sector. See you next year at Mobile World Congress 2026!
